February Day 14: Match OOTD

My outfit for February 14 was pretty boring because I just went to the doctor and work that Friday. This manicure matches my outfit for Saturday, February 15th, which was a blue skirt with white pin stripes, a red top, and my black bead necklace.

So, to match my outfit, I used Ciaté Power Dressing, Seche Warm Hearted, Essie Licorice and Marshmallow, and Orly Instant Artist Crisp White with Butter London Nail Foundation as the nude color on my index finger.

Another Crazy Retro Pattern

I was experimenting with some different manicures I could make using the same colors. This somewhat retro pattern was a result of that and has been used as a guest post on one blog already.

I used L'Oréal New Money, Essie Bond With Whomever, Barielle Love, and Orly Instant Artist Jet Black.

Red Carpet Worthy

For this manicure, I embellished it a little more by adding subtle glitter to the red.

So here's what I did:
Ciaté Dangerous Affair (solid red) and Enchanted Rose (red glitter)
Sonia Kashuk Smoke and Mirrors (applied with a thin paint brush)
Orly Instant Artist Jet Black

By the time I finished, I thought it looked rather elegant and classic. What do you think?

Stripe Bright

I used eight different colors to achieve this multi-stripe mani. I used SinfulColors Pink Forever and Hazard, Ulta Sun-Sational, Ciaté Mojito, Headliner, Cookies and Cream and Twilight, and Barielle Grape Escape.

I just applied each line with a thin nail art brush.

Classy Stripes and Dots

I was inspired by @cynfulnails on Instagram and Sammy at her blog here. For my middle and ring finger, I painted two coats of Butter London Nail Foundation, let it dry, applied stripes of nail tape, painted over the whole nail with Essie Licorice, and then pulled the nail tape off gently while the polish was still wet. For my index and pinky fingers, I used Barielle Love for the base (it is a pearly white) and Essie Licorice for the polka dots.

Inspired by Aubrey Hannah

I was inspired by Aubrey Hannah's for this manicure. I used SinfulColors Pink Forever with Essie Pure Pearlfection and Matte About You. Then for the accent finger, I used Essie Licorice with Matte About You and, with a thin nail art brush, I applied To Dry For top coat for the (zebra) stripes.

Minnie Mouse Inspired

For a recent trip to Disneyland and California Adventure I borrowed my sister's shirt and that, along with the work of @ohtammm on Instagram, inspired my Minnie Mouse nail design.

The design is the same on both hands but just showed my non-dominant hand.
Thumb: SinfulColors Pink Forever with Orly Instant Artist Crisp White
Index: Julep Kate and I dipped a straw into Essie Licorice, SinfulColors Pink Forever, and Sonia Kashuk Smoke and Mirrors for the abstract design.
Middle: SinfulColors Pink Forever with OPI Pink-ing of You polka dots, Essie Licorice for Minnie Mouse silhouette, Sonia Kashuk Smoke and Mirrors for the bow, and a single pink glitter from Milani Hot Pink.
Ring: Sonia Kashuk Smoke and Mirrors.
Pinky: SinfulColors Pink Forever with Julep Kate and Essie Licorice polka dots.

Periwinkle to Purple to Pink

I started off with a different nail design in mind but I'm a sucker for purples and gradients. I couldn't help myself! I started off with Essie Lapiz of Luxury (Periwinkle), Ulta Duty Free Shopping Spree (Purple), OPI Pink-ing of You (Pink).

Then I decided to add Nicole by OPI Here Kim's the Sun which my mom got at Ulta for $1.99 marked down from $7.99.

Stripes and Glitter

I can't remember which polishes I used except the glitter. It's Essie A Cut Above.

Pink and Brown Stripes

I used Essie Secret Story and SinfulColors Nirvana.

Novice Multi-Stripe Manicure

I think my taste leans more toward pastels with this style. Created with OPI Purple With a Purpose, Orly Sweet Peacock and Instant Artist Jet Black, Ulta Silver Lining, SinfulColors Hazard.

From top to bottom, left to right: 1. Paint your base color (Purple With a Purpose). 2. Paint a strip of your first accent color (Hazard). 3. Add a stripe on each side of the first accent color, preferably with a striper (Jet Black). 4. Paint a strip of your second accent color on the other side of the nail (Sweet Peacock). 5. Add a stripe on each side of your second accent color with the striper (Jet Black). - This a picture of just one design, but, as seen in my other pictures, I varied the stripe pattern on all of my nails -

Suzi Design - Part 2

I added black polka dots with Orly Instant Artist in Jet Black by just dabbing a little puddle of polish onto my work surface and dipping my dotting tool into that to create the dots. I was inspired by a talented girl named Chelsea King. Miss Chelsea used glitter instead of polka dots though. She has an Instagram account, Facebook page, and YouTube channel. Her amazing work really got me into doing my nails!

Suzi Design - Part 1

Apparently I have a little bit of a double stripe look going on here. I created the stripes with Orly Instant Artist in Jet Black. Orly Instant Artist is a water based paint and the paintbrush is thin and long to make designs like this.
